Syria claims Hezbollah is sponsoring smugglers at border

border

The new authorities of Syria have claimed that Lebanon’s Hezbollah have been sponsoring smugglers of weapons and drugs at the border as hostility has taken form between Syrian forces and gangs in Syrian villages this week, The National via AFP reported on February 11th.

In Haweek, Jarmash, Wadi Al Hawrani and Akum clashes with smugglers carrying arms started. This took place during a campaign to control the country’s western borders from smuggling activities, Lt Col Moayed Al Salama, the commander of the western region in the Border Security Administration told official news agency Sana.

Al Salama said: “Most smuggling gangs on the Lebanese border are affiliated with Hezbollah militia, whose presence now poses a threat at the Syrian border because it sponsors drug and weapon smugglers.”
