Known as Ceasar, the Syrian whistleblower who documented severe human rights abuses of the Assad regime has revealed himself as First Lieutenant Farid Al-Madhhan, during an interview with Al Jazeera on February 6th, according to The New Arab.

Al-Madhhan used to be the head of the Forensic Evidence Department of the Military Police in Damascus before leaving Syria with more than 54,000 distressing images of torture, brutality, starvation and murder victims during 2014, in Assads detention complexes.

The pictures became notorious and had been used widely in order to publicise descriptions of the cruelty or violence within the Assad regime, with many later being exhibited at the US Holocaust Museum and at the United Nations.
