Italy’s PM faces judicial investigation over release of Libyan suspect

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on January 28th that she has been put under judicial investigation after a government decision to free a Libyan police officer, wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to The Arab Weekly via Reuters.
Osama Elmasry Najeem was released last week and taken home by an Italian state aircraft, just days after he was detained in Turin over an ICC arrest warrant for alleged crimes against humanity, such as murder, torture and rape.
The ICC has called for an explanation, saying it had not been consulted about the decision to release him.
