Libyan warlord expelled because he posed “danger,” Italy says

A Libyan warlord who was sought by the International Criminal Court over security concerns was repatriated by Italy, Italy’s interior minister said to lawmakers on January 23rd, in the government’s first official statement on its decision to repatriate the warlord and not take action for him to be charged, The Associated Press reported.
Known as Ossama Anjiem, the warlord, which is also know as Ossama al-Masri, was taken on a government plane to Tripoli, where he was met with an enthusiastic welcomed.
Al-Masri was returned to Tripoli “for urgent security reasons, with my expulsion order, in view of the danger posed by the subject,’’ interior minister, Matteo Piantedosi, said to the Senate.
