Yemen

The United Nations and partners have kickstarted the 2025 Yemen Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, which is urging for humanitarian and protection aid for over 10 million Yeminis in need, Asharq Al-Awsat reported on January 21st.

In the plan, the UN said that over half of Yemen’s population, which is 19.5 million, requires humanitarian support and protection services.

The living conditions for Yemenis has been exacerbated by the Yemeni riyal’s collapse, which is now trading at more than 2,160 riyals per US dollar, within the legitimate government-run areas. The collapse has also caused authorities to find it difficult to pay public sector salaries over the last four months.
