Rebuild of Gaza will take “an awful lot of time” – UN official

The rebuild of Gaza which has been devastated by war will “take an awful lot of time”, even though an escalation of humanitarian deliveries have been promised, according to a UN official in Gaza, the BBC reported on January 20th.
Acting director of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) in Gaza, Sam Rose, told the BBC: “We’re not just talking about food, healthcare, buildings, roads, infrastructure. We’ve got individuals, families, communities that need to be rebuilt.”
Since a ceasefire and hostage release deal came into operation on January 19th, at least 1,545 aid lorries have entered Gaza, according to the UN.
