The Italian police have arrested the head of Libya’s judicial police who leads Tripoli’s Mitiga Detention centre, Italian news reports announced on January 20th, according to The New Arab and agencies.

Also known by the name Almasri, Osama Najim, was arrested on January 19th in Turin on an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), the media has reported.

Nello Scavo, a journalist from Avvenire daily who broke the story, said on social media: “We can confirm from dedicated sources that on the mandate of the International Criminal Court for war crimes, the head of the Libyan judicial police was arrested in Turin.”
