Over 630 trucks of humanitarian aid enter Gaza, UN says

United Nations humanitarian officials have said that over 630 trucks of humanitarian aid have passed into the Gaza strip, in line with the ceasefire deal of Israel and Hamas, Asharq Al-Awsat reported on January 20th.

Tom Fletcher, the United Nations under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs said in a post on X that more than 630 trucks had moved into Gaza on January 19th. Fletcher said that at least 300 of these would bring humanitarian aid to the north.

Fletcher added that there is “no time to lose”. Fletcher also said: “After 15 months of relentless war, the humanitarian needs are staggering.”

The ceasefire deal, which started on January 19th, with the first phase that goes on for six weeks has called for 600 trucks of humanitarian relief to enter Gaza each day.
