Israeli cabinet will meet to approve Gaza ceasefire deal

The Israeli cabinet will meet to give the last approval to a deal with Hamas for a ceasefire in the Gaza strip and the liberation of captives in exchange for Palestinian detainees, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said on January 17th.
Israeli war planes have continued launching strikes on Gaza and Palestinian authorities said late on January 16th that at least 86 people were killed during the day that the truce was announced, The New Arab and agencies reported.
With long-established discord reportedly present among ministers, Israel postponed meetings due to take place on January 16th when the cabinet was expected to vote on the agreement. Israel blamed Hamas for the delay. But in the early hours of January 17th, Netanyahu’s office said the approval would take place soon.
