The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on January 16th that his cabinet will not meet to okay the agreement for a ceasefire in the Gaza strip and the liberation of dozens of hostages until Hamas drops, what it described as a “last-minute” crisis, Asharq Al-Awsat via AP reported.

The Prime Minister’s office claimed that Hamas has gone back on areas of the agreement in a bid to “to extort last minute concessions.” The office did not provide details about this.

The cabinet was due to officially agree to the deal on January 16th. Nevertheless, Israeli strikes in the Gaza strip have killed at least 48 in the last 24 hours.
