New West Bank olive grove pays tribute to Jimmy Carter

Palestinian Residents and activists have planted a grove of 250 olive trees in a town within the north of the West Bank on January 13th in remembrance of the late former US President, Jimmy Carter, referring to him as a committed supporter of the Palestinian cause.
According to Abbas Melhem, executive manager of the Palestinian Farmers Union, Carter’s legacy is “rooted” among Palestinians but also on a global level, The New Arab and agencies reported. Melhem added that Carter was one of the few global leaders that “stood firmly supporting the struggle of the Palestinians for independence and for freedom.”
George Zeidan, the Carter Center’s Director in Israel and Palestine, said: “I think planting olive trees that live at least 100 years old like him is a very suitable way to honor his life and his legacy.”
