Aoun pledges to address issues between Lebanon and Syria

Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, urged on January 12th the necessity for cooperation to tackle all unresolved issues between Lebanon and Syria.

Aoun got a phone call from the head of Syria’s new authorities, Ahmed al-Sharaa, who congratulated him on his new role as president on January 9th, Asharq Al-Awsat reported.

Aoun emphasised the “fraternal relations that bind the Syrian and Lebanese people.”

The officials also emphasised the significance of fostering good relations between the two countries.

The country’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, went to Damascus on January 11th for discussions with al-Sharaa.

The two leaders expressed their eagerness to develop long-term strategic relations prompted by mutual respect and national sovereignty after decades of problematic relations.
