Israel to withdraw from southern Lebanon, says US envoy

The Israeli military will withdraw entirely from southern Lebanon, according to the US envoy Amos Hochstein. Although it has been reported recently that Israel intends to permanently operate in the country.
Hochstein’s statement on January 6th was made as Israel withdrew its forces from Naqoura in the western area of the border, whilst the Lebanese army were being deployed in the same area, Al Jazeera reported via Reuters.
Hochstein told reporters in Beirut: “The Israeli military started its withdrawal from Naqoura, most of the western sector and back into Israel proper today, south of the Blue Line.”
Hochstein added: “These withdrawals will continue until all Israeli forces are out of Lebanon completely.”
