Hezbollah leader killed inside war operations room

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike on 27 September last year. According to The New Arab on January 5th, new details have been disclosed by a Hezbollah official that Nasrallah died inside the militant group’s war operations room.
Israeli airstrikes flattened several buildings in Beirut killing Nasrallah. According to the Lebanese Health Ministry six people died in the strikes. According to The New Arab and agencies, Nasrallah and other senior officials were based underground.
“His Eminence (Hassan Nasrallah) used to lead the battle and war from this location,” said top Hezbollah security official Wafiq Safa. Safa went on to state Nasrallah died in the war operations room.

The death of Nasrallah, who had led Hezbollah for 32 years, caused tension to rise, turning months of minor strikes between Israel and the militants into a 2-month war. The US-brokered a ceasefire which took effect on 27 November.
The first phase of the ceasefire was supposed to involve Hezbollah moving their fighters, weapons and infrastructure away from southern Lebanon, while Israeli troops that invaded southern Lebanon needed to withdraw within 60 days. Lebanese army soldiers are to be deployed in large numbers together with United Nations peacekeepers.
Lebanon and Hezbollah have historically been critical of ongoing Israeli strikes across the country, after the ceasefire Israel has only withdrawn from two out of dozens of Lebanese villages it controls. Israel has also argued that the Lebanese military has not fully dismantled Hezbollah infrastructure.
On January 3rd, Hezbollah’s current leader Naim Kassem warned that Hezbollah fighters will strike Israel if their troops don’t leave the south by the end of January.
