Biden to send $8 bn arms sale to Israel

The US Department of State has informed Congress of a planned $8bn (£6.4bn) arms shipment to Israel, an American official confirmed to the BBC.
The shipment of the weapons, which needs to be approved from House and Senate committees, would provide missiles, shells as well as other military weapons, the BBC reported on January 4th.
The plans come just over two weeks before Biden will be leaving office. Washington has decided against calls to drop military backing for Israel due to the amount of civilians killed during the war in Gaza.
The US gave the green light to the sale $20bn in fighter jets and other military equipment to Israel, during August.
