Israel to close embassy in Ireland

Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar said on December 15th that Israel will close its embassy in Ireland due to the “extreme anti-Israeli policies of the Irish government” according to Reuters.
He cited Ireland’s recognition of a Palestinian state in May, for which Israel’s ambassador to Dublin was recalled. Ireland last week announced it would support South Africa’s case against Israel at the international court of justice accusing Israel of genocide.
“I utterly reject the assertion that Ireland is anti-Israel. Ireland is pro-peace, pro-human rights and pro-International law,” Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris wrote on X.
