US Elections 2024: Ultra-nationalist Israeli ministers rejoice
Ultra-nationalist Israeli ministers rejoiced as Donald Trump won the US presidential elections on November 6th, according to MiddleEastEye.
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, an anti-Palestinian and pro-settlement ally of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, posted on X: “Yesssss”.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich was also quick to react to the election result, posting on X: “God bless Israel. God bless America.”
Dubbed the de-facto “governor” of the occupied West Bank, he is accused of leading the annexation of the Palestinian territory.

Trump won the presidential race against Democrat challenger Vice President Kamala Harris in a historic come back to the White House on early November 6th.
During his first tenure as president, Trump implemented a foreign policy seen by some people as one of the most pro-Israel in US history.
He recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and accepted Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights among other pro-Israeli moves.
In July, Ben Gvir told Bloomberg that a win for Trump would benefit Israel.
He said: “With Trump it will be clearer that enemies must be defeated.”
