Netanyahu claims Russian weapons found in Lebanon
Israeli PM Netanyahu has claimed Israel had found “state-of-the-art” Russian weapons in Lebanon, as reported by the Arab News via AFP on October 17th.
Netanyahu followed up the claim, which he made to French newspaper Le Figaro, by pointing out that a 2006 UNSC resolution only allowed the Lebanese army to have weapons south of the Litani river. “However, in this area, Hezbollah has dug hundreds of tunnels and caches, where we have just found a quantity of state-of-the-art Russian weapons,” he was quoted as saying.
Quoting senior officials in Israel, the Washington Post reported that anti-tank weapons from Russia and China had been found by Israeli forces in Lebanon following their invasion of the country last month, which has killed at least 1,300 people, with the toll likely higher.
