A year in the war: Netanyahu will keep fighting

On the first anniversary of the October 7th 2023 events, Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s determination to defy Hamas, according to AFT as reported by Arab News on October 7th.
“As long as the enemy threatens our existence and the peace of our country, we will continue to fight. As long as our hostages are still in Gaza, we will continue to fight,” claimed the Israeli Prime minister, vowing to eventually achieve the “sacred mission” against Hamas.

During the October 7th attack, 1,200 people lost their lives in Israel, and since then nearly 42,000 have been killed in Gaza. Due to the latest exacerbation of tensions in Lebanon, at least 1,400 casualties were recorded in the area, along with about a million displaced.
Throughout the war, Israel has received a conspicuous amount of funds from the US, which has spent a total of at least $17.9 billion on military aid. Thus far this sum is the highest ever sent to Israel in a single year, including “military financing, arms, and about $4.4 billion in drawdowns from US stockpiles and hand-me-down of used equipment.
