Hezbollah: Lebanon is prepared for an Israeli invasion
Hezbollah has declared to be prepared for any upcoming Israeli invasion, according to Asharq Al-Awsat and agencies on September 30th.
“We will face any possibility and we are ready if the Israelis decide to enter by land and the resistance forces are ready for a ground engagement,” commented Hezbollah’s deputy leader Naim Qassem.
In the last month, the tensions between IDF and the Iran-backed militant group grew exponentially following a pager blast attack perpetrated against Lebanon by the Israeli counterpart.
A series of Israeli airstrikes in the region resulted in hundreds of deaths. On September 23rd alone, 182 people were killed and 727 injured.
Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah is among the numerous victims of Israeli attacks, named one of its “greatest enemies”.
“Nasrallah was one of the greatest enemies of the State of Israel of all time… his elimination makes the world a safer place,” said military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.
Moreover, negotiations and diplomatic resolutions have been turned down by the Israeli government as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich rejected the proposal for a temporary 21-day ceasefire.
“The campaign in the north should end with a single result: crushing Hezbollah and elimination of its ability to harm the residents of the north,” claimed Smotrich.
As Israel seems to be keen on prolonging its campaign, Lebanon may be facing its largest displacement ever, as a million people, a fifth of the population, have escaped.
In addition, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, more than 1,000 Lebanese have died in the conflict and 6,000 were wounded.
