US Ambassador condemns Israel’s war conduct
America’s UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield spoke out against Israel’s war conduct on September 16th, according to Arab News.
During the UN Security Council meeting, the Ambassador claimed that “many of the strikes in recent weeks that injured or killed UN personnel and humanitarian workers ‘were preventable’.”
Other council members denounced the Israeli strike which targeted a former school on September 11th. The strike on the shelter killed at least 34 people, among whom 6 UNRWA staff workers.
However, Israel has claimed to have hit a Hamas command-and-control center and killed Hamas soldiers in the strike.

The Ambassador also raised concerns over the death of Turkish American activist Aysenur Eygi shot and killed by the IDF during a peaceful anti-settlement protest in the West Bank.
The IDF has claimed to have probably killed the activist by mistake, nevertheless, Thomas-Greenfield has stated that “The IDF is a professional military and knows well how to ensure that incidents such as these do not happen.”
President Joe Biden also condemned the incident as “totally unacceptable”.
The US ambassador went on stating “We have also been unequivocal in communicating to Israel that there is no basis — absolutely none — for its forces to be opening fire on clearly marked UN vehicles as recently occurred on numerous occasions”, reiterating the urgency of a ceasefire.
The US “urges all council members with influence over Hamas to join others in pressing its leaders to stop stalling, make these compromises, and accept the deal without delay”.
