Lebanon’s ex-central bank chief to remain in detention amid probe
On September 9, a judge ruled that Lebanon’s former central bank governor, Riad Salameh, would remain in detention as part of an ongoing graft investigation, reported by Arab News and agencies.
Investigative judge Bilal Halawi took the decision after questioning Salameh for the first time since he was taken into custody on September 3rd, over recent charges of financial misconduct during his time in office, including embezzlement of public funds
Halawi set another hearing for September 12th for the new case which relates to financial misconduct with a local firm in Lebanon, as opposed to previous cases which were international.
