UN aid vehicle struck by Israeli gunfire in Gaza
According to The New Arab, a UN humanitarian vehicle was struck by Israeli gunfire in Gaza on August 27th.
The vehicle was part of a convoy that was coordinated with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
UN Secretary-General spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the vehicle was hit at least 10 times by IDF gunfire, “including with bullets targeting front windows.”

Dujarric added that the current coordination systems are ineffective, although there are ongoing efforts by the UN in collaboration with the IDF to prevent such incidents from recurring.
It remains unclear whether information about the convoy’s movement had been communicated to Israeli authorities, making it impossible to assess the intentions of those firing at the UN.
This is not the first instance of a UN vehicle being struck since the onset of the Gaza war. In May, a staff member from the UN Department of Safety and Security (DSS) was killed, and another was injured in an “active combat zone” in Gaza.
