Gaza was again the target of a series of Israeli attacks throughout June 3rd — including incursions near Khan Younis and around Gaza City — even as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allegedly met with ministers to discuss the details of a ceasefire deal announced by US President Joe Biden, The New Arab and agencies reported.
The UN said over half of the enclave’s buildings have been destroyed, while Palestinian media also confirmed the killings of six Palestinians resulting from the targeting of a house in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The Emergency Municipal Committee in northern Gaza declared the Jabalia area and town of Beit Hanoun “disaster zones” on June 2nd.
Netanyahu has faced increasing international pressure to accept the deal, especially as the Palestinian death toll continues to rise from incessant strikes on Rafah. White House National Security Council spokesman Jake Sullivan said in a recent interview with ABC News that the United States “expects Israel to agree to the proposal if Hamas accepts it.”
