Norway, Ireland and Spain formally recognise Palestine

Norway, Ireland and Spain have formally recognised Palestine as a state in a landmark move hoped to promote peace for Israelis and Palestinians, according to The National News and agencies on May 22nd.

Ireland’s PM Simon Harris said it was “the only credible path to peace and security for Israel, for Palestine and for their peoples”.

Norway and Spain have said the recognition will officially take effect on May 28.

Other EU states including Slovenia and Malta have announced recently that they also plan to recognise Palestine.
