Israel airstrikes against pro-Iran targets in Syria kill six
Israel has launched two airstrikes against pro-Iran targets in Syria, killing a minimum of six militants, according to Arab News and agencies on May 20th.
War monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on May 18th that, “Israeli strikes targeted two positions of pro-Iran groups in the Homs region,” that included a “Hezbollah site in the Qusayr area”.
The Qusayr area, near Syria’s border with Lebanon, is where the Iranian-backed group holds significant control.

While Hezbollah did not formally announce their casualties from the attack, an affiliated source confirmed with the war monitor that at least one fighter was killed.
Israel does not typically acknowledge strikes conducted in Syria but has previously outlined its objections to the Islamic Republic’s use of Syria as a base for its military groups.

The drone strike on May 20th follows multiple attacks by Israel against forces loyal to Iran. On March 29th, 35 Syrian soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a Hezbollah base.
Iran has previously warned Israel of severe repercussions if it continues to target its allies, launching over 300 missiles on April 13th.
But on May 9th Israel targeted military facilities belonging to Iraqi group, Al Nujaba, based in southern Damascus, signalling it will not refrain from targeting the authoritarian regime’s bases.
Al Nujaba is the second-largest Shiite militia in Syria, after Hezbollah.
