Jordian police beats protestors

Jordanian Anti-riot police suppressed a pro-Palestine demonstration in the capital Amman on March 26th, according to The New Arab and agencies.

On the night of March 26th, more than two thousand protesters marched towards the Israeli embassy in Amman, flashpoint of anti-Israeli demonstrations, chanting slogans in support of Hamas.

“Oh Hamas… All of Jordan’s people are behind you”, sang the crowd.

Jordan’s population has been a passionate supporter of the Palestinian cause ever since the beginning of the war.

On several occasions, Jordanians have actively attempted to boycott Israel by disrupting its principal aid delivery system.

As a matter of fact, deliveries by road have been fundamental for the country, as many of its ships have been targeted by Iran-backed Yemeni rebels Houthis.

However, this time protesters were met with baton-wielding police who beat and arrested dozens of demonstrators.

Regarding the matter, Jordanian authorities claimed that they would not tolerate any attempt by “mobs” to generate chaos, and fear the popularity that the Hamas movement is gaining in the country.
