Trump calls Israel to “finish up the war ” in Gaza
Republican presidential favourite Donald Trump has once again called on Israel to “finish up the war ” on March 25th, according to The New Arab and agencies.
“You have to finish up your war. To finish it up. You gotta get it done”, stated the former US president in an interview for the Israel Hayom, “And I will say, Israel has to be very careful, because you’re losing a lot of the world, you’re losing a lot of support”, he continued.
On March 18th, the presidential nominee had already turned his back on America’s historical ally, promising that, upon winning the upcoming elections, he would have successfully ended the war in the Strip.
Moreover, on March 20th, the US proposed a draft resolution calling for an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza to “protect civilians on all sides, enable the delivery of essential humanitarian aid, and alleviate suffering… in conjunction with the release of hostages still held”, as stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Nevertheless, Trump is still one of Israel’s most devoted allies.
As a matter of fact, the former president claimed that he would’ve responded “very much the same way” to Hamas’ surprise attack on October 7th, and continued asserting that Israel is losing international support only due to the released footage of its strikes.
“If people didn’t see that, every single night I’ve watched every single one of those. And I think Israel wanted to show that it’s tough, but sometimes you shouldn’t be doing that”, declared the US presidential nominee.
Moreover, he criticised Senate leader Chuck Schumer calling for Israeli elections, stating “I think it’s a terrible thing to do”.
In point of fact, on March 14th Chuck Schumer accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being a “major obstacle to peace” and of being “too willing to tolerate the civilian death toll in Gaza, which is pushing support for Israel worldwide to historic lows”, thus advocating for new elections in the country.
