Italy thwarts Palestinian terrorist attack
Three alleged Palestinian terrorists have been arrested in Italy, according to The Arab Weekly plus agencies on March 12th.
“Italy is always on high alert against extremism and radicalization” stated Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi upon the arrest of three Palestinian men in L’Aquila, about 120 km northeast of the capital.
The three men -Anan Kamal Afif Yaeesh, Ali Saji Ribhi Irar and Mansour Doghmosh- living in Italy with a resident permit issued for humanitarian reasons, are being charged with “criminal conspiracy for terrorism purposes or subversion of the democratic order” and are believed to be linked to the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, an internationally feared terrorist group, associated with the Palestinian Fatah movement.

Accused of having engaged in proselytism and planning (suicide) attacks on foreign territories, the men face up to 15 years of jail time, and for one of them, the sentence could get significantly worse.
37-year-old Anan Yaeesh is already wanted by Israeli authorities and will possibly be deported; however, Yaeesh’s legal team claims that extradition would condemn the man to “inhumane and degrading treatment” including torture.
