Egypt & Jordan both agree to block Palestinian expulsion plan

After a summit in Cairo on Dec.27th, Jordan’s King Abdullah and Egypt’s President Sisi stated that they both reject the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and West Bank.
According to the Jordanian Petra news agency, both leaders “reiterated their complete rejection of all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue and forcibly displaced Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip”.
Furthermore, they both emphasized the urgency of a prompt ceasefire, highlighting the importance of global leaders exerting pressure on Israel to achieve this goal.
Additionally, they underscored the importance of thwarting any efforts to reclaim territories in Gaza, establish buffer zones in the besieged Palestinian enclave, or create divisions between Gaza and the West Bank.
Over the previous week, Israel has escalated its airstrikes in the central and southern regions of Gaza, previously deemed safe zones. However, citizens are now being advised to relocate farther south, closer to the border separating Gaza and Egypt.
According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the recorded death toll has reached 21,110 with 55,243 wounded since October 7th.
The Jordanian king and the Egyptian president cautioned against the ongoing conflict in Gaza, emphasizing its potential to lead the entire region into a catastrophic situation with repercussions affecting everyone.

Both leaders committed to maintaining close communication concerning the situation in Gaza, while also reiterating the necessity of a two-state solution. King Abdullah emphasized that this approach is “crucial for regional security and the sole path to achieving peace.”
