Israel’s Jenin raid sees two youths murdered

Bellicose Israeli forces killed two youths in a major raid on Jenin on November 29, reports BBC News.

The illegally occupied West Bank city of Jenin was Israel’s latest victim as casualties, arrests and the destruction of homes were reported in what was a deeply somber day in the city.

The West Bank has been under Israel’s occupation since 1967 and since October 7, the territory has seen a large rise in violent acts committed by the IDF. Over 200 have been killed, thousands have been wounded, and thousands, including children, have been arrested.

It was confirmed that the two youths were under the age of 18. Humanitarian organisation, The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that one of the boys murdered was aged 9 and named Adam Samer Al-Ghoul.

The other was 15-year-old Basil Suleiman Abu Al-Wafa who was gunned down by soldiers according to Palestine’s Health Ministry.

Following the raid, Jenin’s mayor Nidal Obeidi spoke to Turkish media outlet Anadolu Agency (AA). Obeidi said that the IDF, “declared the city of Jenin and its camp a closed military zone,” .

“Sweeping and vandalising streets and infrastructure has become a common occurrence every time the army storms the city and the camp.”.

Since the beginning of October, over 15,000 Gazans have been killed by Israeli forces and the striking of the enclave has caused the displacement of over 1.6 million people.

A truce extension was agreed between Palestinian militants Hamas and Israel, and many will be hopeful that a longer peace deal will be secured sooner rather than later.

The CIA and Mossad held a meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha on November 28 in an effort to achieve a further truce extension between the pair.
