Desperate residents paying bribes to flee Gaza

Reports coming out of Gaza allege that residents are paying bribes to escape the pummeled enclave, according to British news outlet I News,November 23.

Since Hamas’ rampage in Israel on October 7, 15,000 and counting have been killed in Gaza by brutal Israeli forces. 

Desperate Gaza inhabitants are paying bribes to help them flee, opting to go to Egypt. 

Due to Israeli strikes, 1.6 million out of 2.2 million people of the densely populated enclave’s population have been displaced.

Pro-Palestinian activist Khalil Abu Shammala told agencies that the conditions in the territory are at an all-time low despite a partial ceasefire and that many are taking desperate measures to evacuate. 

Shammala said, “Some people paid $5,000 per person to leave. “I know someone that paid $30,000 for six family members. Those who can coordinate… have their names at the border with Egyptian officials to enable them to leave,” .

Israel handed out leaflets on November 24, warning displaced Gazans that “returning to the north is forbidden and very dangerous!!!”as the IDF reportedly fired on displaced people attempting to go back north. AP reported that two were killed and ten were wounded in the shootings.
