229 hostages still held by Hamas according to Israel

Israel’s Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that the number of people held hostage by Hamas was 229 in raids carried out by the Palestinian militant group, according to BBC News, October 26. 

Hamas’ deadly assault on Israel’s south on October 7 killed 1,400 as tensions between Gaza and Israel have spiraled out of control. 

Israel have retaliated since, killing over 7,000 Palestinians in the blockaded territory.
